This "safe haven" law was intended to prevent teen mothers from killing or abandoning their babies without fear of being arrested - and now all these parents are dumping kids and teenagers in the ER! I can't believe it. They have to change that law PRONTO.

He might have been less overwhelmed if they'd limited their family size to a reasonable number. Ten children, total (the mother died in childbirth, father quit his job to take care of the family).

As an educator, I actually would like to see more kids dropped off! These youngsters may actually grow up in a safe home, with a loving parent and recieve a strong education. I just spoke with a h.s. sophomore who has attended six schools in three states in the last two years, as he has been shipped around from relative to relative due to his family situation. He is looking foward to being emancipated at the age of 15, so he can have some stability!

That's happened a few times at my hospital. We call the police and have the parents arrested. We then then send the kids to stay with the grandparents. We're not playing baby sitter for anyone.

I like the idea...wish my parents would have done it.

Actually, I retract that last statement...but I still like the idea.
