I say I'm a specialist in Internal Medicine. For the term primary care patients say "Oh you're just a GP". It's the "just" that is insulting.

Re: http://thehappyhospitalist.blogspot.com/2009/04/i-am-specialist-in-hospital-medicine.html

I knew a terrific cardiothoracic surgeon who always introduced himself as "I'm a heart and lung surgeon" and never once had to explain it.

I think your intro is letter perfect. (Anon, I wouldn't say you're working with the hospital, as that brings into question whose best interests come first).

GruntDoc

Re: http://thehappyhospitalist.blogspot.com/2009/04/i-am-specialist-in-hospital-medicine.html

Dr. D
Sometimes I LMAO when I read your responses to Happy's posts, but, sometimes you scare the s*** out of me, and I wouldn't want to be alone with you in an elevator!
